How to renew your SBSC membership or join SBSC as a new member

All SBSC memberships are due for renewal on 1 September each year, unless you have enrolled in a Learn to Sail class.

Your membership of SBSC needs to be current before you participate in on-water sailing activities, race management, learn to sail or other volunteering activities at SBSC. If your membership is current, you are covered by Australian Sailing Personal Accident Insurance and SBSC Insurance Policies.

Membership Categories

We have a range of membership categories, including family and concessional memberships, to cater for a wide range of sailing and volunteering interests including:

  • Adult Club Support Member
  • Adult Club Support Member (Family or Concession)
  • Adult Sailing Member
  • Adult Sailing Member (Family or Concession)
  • Associate Member (Off Water Parent / Guardian)
  • Associate Member (Off Water Volunteer / Social)
  • Youth Sailing Member
  • Youth Sailing Member (Family or Concession)
  • Temporary Member (Learn to Sail Applicant)
  • Temporary Member (Parent or Guardian)
  • Day Member

Family membership

  • Applies to second and subsequent sailing members in the same family (i.e. Adult Sailing Member, Youth Sailing Member or Club Support Member)
  • A Family is defined as any two or more persons living in the same household related by birth, marriage or who are in any other legally recognised relationship.

Concessional member

  • Applies to any holder of an Australian Government concession or health care card OR
  • Anyone 65 years or older OR
  • Any holder of a Pension Concession Card or Full-time Student Card

Please also note:

  • While SBSC does not have a specific Family membership category, our Membership Secretary can link a Parent or Guardian to their child's account if you provide them the names of SBSC members in your family.  
  • Membership fees for returning or new Learn to Sail students will be manually upgraded once you enrol and pay for your course.
  • Prospective Learn to Sail students who have not yet enrolled in a class should renew as Temporary Member (Learn to Sail Applicant) or Temporary Member (Parent or Guardian). 
  • Our Club's Child Safety Policy is that all members over 18 yrs must have a Blue Card. For further information please see our Blue Card Policy.
  • You are also welcome to make a small Tax Deductable donation to SBSC via the Australian Sports Foundation towards maintaince of our club boats used in Learn to Sail activities.

Your SBSC membership helps to support sailing and social activities at our club by contributing to insurance costs, purchase and maintenence of sailing equipment, sailing awards, and the upkeep of club safety boats and dinghies. Your membership also contributes towards our affiliation with Australian Sailing.
