SBSC Child Safety Working Group

As you may be aware, SBSC and all sporting clubs in Queensland that deliver services to children will need to be compliant with the new Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 by 1 April 2026.

As this legislation and associated Child Safety Standards will affect all members of SBSC, we are calling for Expressions of Interest from parents, sailors, learn to sail participants and all members to be part of a SBSC Child Safety Working Group, from Jan 2026.

All SBSC members are invited to nominate for the Working Group and to attend this first meeting.

As a member of the Working Group, you will help our Management Committee and Officials to understand and identify actions needed to get us ready for adoption of new Child Safety Standards including:

1. Policies and Procedures
2. Leadership and Culture
3. Engagement with children and families
4. Building capacity and skills
5. Places and spaces
6. Cultural Safety
