MARATHON RACE AT LAKE SAMSONVALE - SUN 26 APRIL 2026

Special event for SBSC Heron Sailors who want to build their racing skills ready for the 2026 Heron State Champinships at the Lake Samsonvale Watersports Association on Sun 26 April 2026.

This is a great opportunity to supercharge your sailing skills in a safe, lake environment with gentle winds and no tide.

SCHEDULE

Junior and Adult classes: Start Sailing 2 (morning)

• 8:30am Assist with loading boats at SBSC (optional)
• 9:00am Depart SBSC or your home (allow 1 hour for travel)
• 10:00am Meet intersection of Austin Road and Winn Rd, Cashemere (gate to Lake Samsonvale Watersports Association)
• 10:30pm Rig boats
• 11:30am Race Briefing
• 12:30pm Race Start
• 4:00pm Depart Lake Samsonvale Watersports Association (allow 1 hour for travel)
• 4:00pm Arrive back at SBSC or your home

TRANSPORT

• You will need to organise your own transport to and from the venue or carpool with other students or instructors.
• Allow 1 hour if driving from SBSC at West End and Lake Samsonvale Watersports Association.
• No dogs allowed at Lake Samsonvale (SEQ Water Regulation)

DIRECTIONS

1. Travel Via Kelvin Road and Samford Road to Samford
2. Travel from Samford to Mount Samson via Mount Samson Road
3. On Mount Samson Road turn right onto Winn Road
4. On Winn Rd turn left into Austin Road (gravel surface)
5. Meet at the locked gate about 50m from intersection of Winn Road and Austin Road
