South Brisbane Sailing Club (SBSC) is a family based river sailing club. Established in 1903 the club is a part of Brisbane’s sporting history.

Located in Orleigh Park, West End SBSC’s clubhouse was built in 1956.  It was built to last because despite ‘going under’ in both the 1974 and 2011 floods the building survived (albeit requiring significant repairs) on both occasions.

Sailors are a hardy, resilient group and with grants from the Queensland Government, Brisbane City Council, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Bank of Queensland and McDonalds a hardworking team of volunteers has facilitated the repair and renovation of the much loved clubhouse.

To mark the official re-opening of this West End landmark we are holding a “Relaunch Day” on Saturday 21st January.  This is an opportunity for SBSC to invite the local community and those with an interest in sailing to join our members for a barbeque, tour of the clubhouse and have a sail.

We invite members of the public to join the Brisbane River sailing community.

The Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund provided $17,184 to South Brisbane Sailing Club for the purchase of two safety boats, and a motor and cabling for one of these boats.
