South Brisbane Sailing Club is committed to providing a safe environment for members to race, learn to sail and volunteer. 

Our safety policies and procedures allow us to identify, manage and minimise risks to children, youth and adult members in accordance with applicable Queensland Govenment and Australian Sailing policies.

Queensland Child Safety Standards - Commencing 1 April 2026

SBSC has commenced the process of achieving compliance with Queensland's Child Safety Standards and a Universal Principle about creating culturally safe environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families.

Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy
  • South Brisbane Sailing Club Inc is committed to ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and empowerment of all children and young people involved in sailing and volunteering at our club.
  • South Brisbane Sailing Club Inc has a zero-tolerance policy to harm, abuse and/or neglect of a Child or Young Person in any form.
  • In all activities of South Brisbane Sailing Club Inc, all Children or Young People have the right to feel safe and protected from all forms of abuse, harm, and neglect.
  • In all activities of South Brisbane Sailing Club Inc, all Children or Young People have the right to take part in sailing activities in a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment.
  • The South Brisbane Sailing Club Inc is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Children or Young People in sailing by providing a safe and inclusive environment and by ensuring that everyone involved in sailing is aware of their rights and responsibilities in relation to Children or Young People.
Member Protection Policy
  • The South Brisbane Sailing Club Inc is committed to ensuring that everyone involved with sailing is treated with respect and dignity and is protected from Abuse, Bullying, Harassment, Sexual Misconduct, Discrimination, Victimisation, and Vilification.
  • The South Brisbane Sailing Club Inc will seek to ensure that everyone involved in sailing at our club is aware of their rights and responsibilities and sets out the standards of behaviour expected of those involved in our sailing and the behaviours that are not acceptable (i.e. Prohibited Conduct).
Complaints, Disputes and Discipline Policy
  • Officials and members of the South Brisbane Sailing Club Inc will ensure that allegations of Prohibited Conduct are managed through an effective, consistent, and timely process, which is fair and transparent.
